Vigil AAD – Automatic Activation Device for Skydiving
Vigil is an Automatic Activation Device (AAD) designed to activate the reserve parachute when the skydiver reaches a critical combination of altitude and vertical speed, and the main canopy is not deployed or not controllable.
The unit monitors barometric pressure and descent rate in real time. When the parameters match an emergency profile, the cutter is triggered to open the reserve container.
Vigil features multiple operating modes, selected according to the type of jumping:
PRO mode – for experienced/recreational sport jumpers
STUDENT mode – adjusted activation parameters for training environments
TANDEM mode – calibrated for heavier exit weights and tandem descent characteristics
XTREME mode – for specialized high-speed or performance disciplines
The device is built for a long operational lifespan (up to ~20 years) with minimal maintenance requirements. Battery replacement is performed as needed, and no fixed interval full-service cycle is required if the device tests within spec. The enclosure is water-resistant and designed to withstand typical jump conditions.
The internal memory stores jump count, status logs, and activation data, simplifying equipment records and inspection.
Vigil is compatible with the majority of modern harness/container systems.
