Planning Begins for the 2027 Abu Dhabi Tunnel Event
Following the success of the recent Abu Dhabi event, preparations are already underway for an expanded and enhanced edition scheduled for March 2027. The upcoming event will feature more groups, additional world-class organisers, and a programme designed to support both advanced and progressing flyers.
Event Dates
Participants may apply for one of the three available blocks:
7–10 March 2027
11–14 March 2027
15–18 March 2027
Planned Structure
Depending on the number of applications, the event will include:
4–5 total groups
2–3 high-level AAA groups
1–2 intermediate AAA/AA groups
1 intermediate AA/A group
Optional FS Social Night for A/Rookie flyers (dependent on interest)
Group Size: 16 flyers (12–16 flyers for A/Rookie groups)
Flying Time: 1 hour per day per group (4 hours total)
Skill Requirements
Applicants should be comfortable flying at approximately:
60–61% tunnel speed at iFLY Manchester
(equivalent to about 65% at iFLY Basingstoke)
Additional Activities
An optional day will be available for sightseeing and activities in Abu Dhabi.
Coaching Structure
Each group will be supported by one or two dedicated coaches to ensure consistent progression, safe flying, and cohesive group performance.
Selection will be made through an application process to maintain balanced group levels.
Application Process
Applications will remain open for six weeks.
After reviewing all submissions, selected participants will receive:
Confirmation of their slot
Group allocation
Assigned coach information
Due to expected demand and the need to maintain appropriate group standards, not all applicants may receive a place.
Cost and Payment
Total event price: £500–£525 (depending on group placement)
Deposit: £150 due upon accepting the offered slot
Remaining balance: due by the end of March 2026
Estimated additional personal costs:
Flights: £200–£500 (varies by UK departure airport and airline)
Taxi: approximately £8 from Abu Dhabi Airport / around £70 from Dubai
Local transport: £3–£4 per taxi ride to CLYMB from nearby hotels or apartments
Accommodation: £200–£500 per person (shared apartment or hotel options)
